Home light means:
You can choose how long the light inside the car has to be switched on after you switched off the engine.

Sorry but this is wrong. HOME LIGHT is this:
You stop the car you pull the key open the door and NOW you pull the light bar at the steering wheel as if you would like to flash (sorry not native speaker)
SURPRISE the car switches on its XENONS (if you ordered it) for you for a period that you may set in the iDRIVE Menue, normally about 40 seconds.
Now you can drop out of the car, fumble your key and try not to wake up your wife and kiddies
BTW RTFM sometimes does give a clue
