If your fuel pump decides to commit suicide, then BMW might not cover the repair because of fuel choice.

Depends how big of a a**hole your service adviser is.

Why is using 94 better than 93? Don't they say people needing only 89 but using 93 won't see any difference anyways? Maybe remove some gunk, but no real performance gains?

Yes and no, when I had my old Jeep - they recommended only regular. However, I found that (and the dealer also suggested it) I got 2-3 more MPG by using 91 over 87. So I, for one, definitely saw performance gains.

The Phillips 66 nearest my house sells 93. I've used it in several cars over the years without issue.

I'm wondering if there isn't some brainwashing going on here about brand name gas and octane. I always wondered why my 5 liter V-8 300+ HP GMC Yukon was OK with 87 octane and yet my almost-Flintstone C 240 with a V-6 168 HP needed 91+. After I researched it a bit, I came to the conclusion that high octane was more an option than a requirement. My 5 seems to work just as well on 89 as 93, but I mix it up as I would with any car.
I think it's a conspiracy between big oil and the car companies, getting us to buy more expensive gas. And as for the second or third tier marketers like Costco, they buy their product from major refiners do they not? They just offer lower costs.

Chevron 91 octane here...

Been putting that in her since I picked her up CPO with 11k miles.
I'm at 26k currently and she's running perfectly.

BP with Invigorate and sometimes Shell... But the shell seem to give me less MPG then BP both at 93...
Last time I saw the Shell station the Truck that brought the gas was some not from shell but some knock off brand...
Becareful of the stations as some are putting in cheap gas even though the Gas station might be Top Tier...
