Very interesting. My experience is exactly the opposite. Maybe in Europe drives are different.
So to set out to consolidate views which are in agreement may prove rather challenging.

Any information I have might help us to draw a conclusion. And it does not hurt anyone, right?

hi big_ipaq!

################################################## #########
I've discovered that my car is very sensitive to the type of DVDs I am burning and also to the brand.

Working
Samsung Pleomax 8x DVD-R - works most of the time

Not working
Samsung Pleomax 8x DVD+R - works at start, but after some time, it starts to throw some errors, then it cannot play the rest of the songs but neither those who were working at the beginning. At some point, one DVD remained inside and could not get it out until I stopped the car for a while.

What are you guys using?

PS If there's interest, I will centralize all answers.
################################################## #########

I 100% experienced the same!!!

Had Sony dvd?s at first (don?t remember the type, they were 8x DVD-R, worked proper). Then got some "TDK DVD-R 1-16x 4.7GB" and it did not work out. First my dvd-burner LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1653S could not recognize the media at all. After a firmware update to C0T (or something similar) I could burn this media, they worked at several dvd-drives but as I said before not in my e60.

Then I bought "EMTEC DVD-R 8x certified" dvd?s and they are fine. I use NERO Burning-Rom 6.3, standard settings, burn at 4x (minimum speed).

I assume that it is a question of "single side" or "double side" dvd?s. I can recommend to purchase old & cheap max. 8x DVD-R they seem to work without any problems.

Hope I could help,
yours
abapril

Verbatim DVD-R 4,7G working 100% OK. Allways burning at slowest possible speed....

My question is, have you guys tried dual layer discs 8,5G ? ? i have tried Verbatim DVD-R and DVD+R... But i have minor problems with those.. 2nd layer isnt readable, reads only half of the albums... Car equipped with CIP:21
