i've made a decision...or at least 80% of the decision has been made...to sell my 530i after only owning it about 15 months. they are great cars and i mean no disrespect to anyone that owns them, but for me it's just not the kind of car i really enjoy driving.

the car i'm probably going for is a 2012 camaro ss. very fast cars, and i owned an earlier version of the camaro before my e60 that was just as fast as the newest camaros and really liked it. i miss that speed, miss having a manual, and miss the sportiness of a coupe. the sedan is just pretty impractical for me. hell, in the 1+ year i've owned my bmw, i'm pretty sure i have only used the back seats 5-6 times maximum.

so just curious on thoughts from bmw owners on the switch to an american made muscle car. i ask because i hear a lot of people slam the camaro and say "oh, it's white trash," or "it's so immature to drive that," etc. the truth is i don't care, it's fast, damn comfortable, and besides navigation and automatic windshield wipers, really doesn't lack anything that my bmw had.

i still like to hear opinions though, because of course everyone on the camaro forums say "bmw's are nice, but the camaro is such a cooler car," so it's nice to hear both sides sometimes.

Never own a Camaro before but back in the days, and I do mean the days, when I got out of high school, I did own the Mustang V-8 and that muffler sound was .

As for now with 1 kid and another coming up, even though we do have an Escalade as our long distance car, I think my 550 is the best of both world, 4 door to drive my daughter to school daily before work and the power and handling when I need it, especially against the little civic wannabes and their loud muffler.

The new Camaro is much better than they used to be, for one thing it will handle MUCH better thanks to them ditching the ancient solid rear axle or independent rear suspension. It is a cool car, possibly because of the Transformers movies (my son always thinks it's BumbleBee when he sees one), but the retro-mod look works.
It is a lot of car for the $$$, not in any way practical for me and my family, but if it fits you then go for it.

I haven't driven the new Camaro chassis, but the older ones from the 90's and early 2000's are fun to drive. Have fun whichever route you decide to take.

I've driven the SS and I can say its nice but the inside is soo cheap! Plus the blind spots on that car are a big disappointment.

the blind spots on the driver's side are pretty bad, but the few test drives i've taken i have learned to just lean forward and look out the driver's door window and it solves the problem. i feel like the e60 rear passenger blind spot is worse than the camaro's passenger blind spot though.

they are pretty expensive at about 35k for a fully loaded SS, but bmw's are no cheap date either.

the interiors aren't that bad i don't think. not as classy as the bmw, but they made some adjustments in the 2012 version and it doesn't look as "toy like" as it did previously. surprisingly, they are one of the most comfortable cars i have ever test driven with a ton of leg room.
