Nah, we're still looking for those WMD must be that forth button we thought we saw there once and now it disappeared and we're only left with three.

Do your buttons work with the car off? Mine don't work unless the car is on and it drives me nuts...why would I have to keep the car on to close the door once inside?

I complain about this, too. My wife's Trailblazer's UGDO works without ignition power. Seems like you can argue that it's unsafe to have power on while closing the door from inside - carbon monoxide, or it's unsafe to park outside with an opener having power without needing a key - break-ins. I'm sure there was a reason they opted for needing power.

Rudy, I would have expected that your assumption is correct, but my garage opening function with those buttons is painfully slow, or more like 'delayed'. It seems that it doesn't just need power from the car being 'on', because if I turn the car on and immediately press the button, my garage door doesn't move. Only after waiting some time, then pressing that button for a while does the garage door activate.

Maybe ????? it could have something to do with the car's computers???? Maybe?

My opener has worked as you describe (with delay) since day one. Also, I remember my two E39's worked that way too. The only thing I can think of is that the car (or the software) is delaying the time it takes to energize the circuit that the garage door opener uses. If anyone feels like putting a meter on it, please be sure to report your findings here...

Universal Garage Door opener.? I use all three.? 1 to open the gate to my house,? 2. To open the garage door at my parents house and 3. the garage door at my inlaws.? The Red light is just the alarm light and maybe motion sensor.? i.e.? leave the windows down and arm the car.? Stick your hand in the cabin and the alrm will go off.

The red one is just the alarm awareness light. The actual sensor is above your head in the center dome of the vehicle.
