After ordering my first car 3 years ago.. I could never purchase another car from a dealers lot.
Unless you absolutely need the car that day, there is no reason not to place an order on a 5er to your specifications.
The best thing about ordering is having the car exactly like you want it.
If money is no object, you are 100 percent right.

In my case, I got my 550 from dealer stock to take advantage of the $2500 rebate that BMW was offering on leftover 2009s.

The car had all the options I wanted. The only thing was that Carbon Black was my second choice and had I ordered, I would have gotten Titanium Silver. To me, the difference in color was no big deal. The only thing is thst Carbon Black, while a nice looking color is a major PITA to keep clean.

But I would agree that if price is not an object, I would custom order a car.

Your right. with the exception of getting a deal that is too good to pass up, then ordering a car would be the best way to go

Have you guys ever tried going into the "box" with the dealership manager, getting THE deal and then saying that the specs on the car you're discussing aren't quite right? (Hint: most dealers would rather sell you a car than not )

If you want things the way you want them, it might be hard work, but its well worth it in the end to get everything JUST how you want it... and that's all I'm gonna say

Yes in my case my deal was about $750 over dealer cost before the application of the $2500 rebate. Too good to pass up.

i was concerned about monthly payments, got a great deal on a leftover 08. if money wasnt an object, i would be driving the EXACT car i have now with a 6MT, Navi, ProLogic. i got every other option i wanted. actually, if money wasnt an object, i would be driving an M5.
