My Ride: Now Driving a Freakin' Prius! Was... 2004 545i | SMG | White/Black | Sport | NAV | Logic 7 | PDC | Fold-down Seats | Adaptive Headlights | Cold Weather Pkg | Clear-again Bra | Mud Flaps | Bluetooth | Coat Hangar | Aux Input | All Weather Mats | 18"X8.5" BBS RK w/ Michelin Pilot Alpin's (winter) | New steering rack @ 1.2K & 17K miles| Software V.19.1 | B&B Exhaust (vrrrroooooommm!) <---Click.

I not only considered but actually drove all of the above.

I drove the first one (CTS-V) to land in my area. Literally right off the truck. I put 10 miles (and probably the hardest 10 miles) on the car. The interior was very "plasticy". For $50K I would expect a better interior. On the other hand, for GM I guess it could have been worse. It screwed off the line but there was a lot of axel hop. In a sweeping corner at speed the rear end felt very twitchy and unsettled.
To sum it up, it felt very similar to a '93 Mustang Cobra to me. My 545i was well worth the extra $15K (and $50K was too much for a 4-door Mustang).

Thats it, I was pretty sold well in advance of buying. Had a prior wonderful experience w/ a 1993 e36 325i, and was looking froward to coming back into the family.

I will not be there either.

I don't even know if I'm still owning an E60 then. Will be at the dealer tomorrow and maybe return the car and sue BMW and will never drive a BMW again.

Fuckin' angry right now!

I tested the Z4, M3, new 330, but I loved the shape of the e60's.
Other brands:
Lexus (boring, an expensive Toyota, I've had alot of them)
MB C class (boring)
MB SLK
Nissan Z convertible (just a Nissan, I've had alot of them)
Infiniti G and M (just an expensive Nissan)
Porsche Boxster
Audi TT & A4 (an expensive VW)
Honda & Acura (really boring, I've had alot of them, currently still have an Odyssey)

But once I saw & drove the e60, it was love at first sight.
I'm currently debating about getting another car next spring. Its between a Z4, M3, M3 or 330 convertible, Boxster or new 330, for a third car. Or maybe if a new M3 or Z4M comes out soon. Decisions, decisions.
Dreamings the best part.

God, I think I would do something quite nasty to get my hands on a Quattroporte.

I love my BMW, but..........

Exclamation

I always liked the 3 series, my first bimmer is a E46 318iA (facelifted model) and I loved it, its a bit underpower, good enough for city driving within Hong Kong, handling is great, a fun car to drive

When the E90 330i came out here in Q1/05, I love it, I was waiting for E90 325i to arrive... interestingly when I was about to make a decision, BMMHK was having a promotion on all E60s, I put down my deposit immediately after knowing the E60 523i was HK$20000 or US$2800 more then the E90 325i I'm now a E60 owner

Yup is absolutely crazy the price of the E90 here in HK compare with an E60. Even more noticable in the used car market.

i only looked at a few cars since im such a big BMW fan + i think no other car has the feel the bmw does especially in the 5 department. but the few i drove and looked at are...

Audi A6
MB E430
BMW M3 (only reason i didnt go with this car is because i wanted a 4 door)
BMW 545

I went with the 530 vs the 545 because the lease rates are horrible on the 545 + i just figured id drive my 530 for 3 years and then get an M5

I've been a 5'er guy for several years, and had two prior to getting the 545 this summer. I looked at the following:

* Lexus GS - they were OK, but just didn't have "it"
* Cadillac STS - I liked it a lot, but don't want a first year car and it also didn't have "it"
* BMW 6'er - very nice but pricey for what it is IMO

I expected to get the 545, just did some casual comparisons to reinforce the decision.

Porsche 911, great power, too small, too flashy. Maybe as a second car.
Ordered a 550, similar power, more room, not as flashy.
