I am going through this right now. I am considering the following:

CTS-V (great car no matter what some on this fourm think)
STS (too expensive for what you get)
STS-V (another great car, but way too expensive)
A6 (currently have one, would consider another)
E500
Porsche Carrera (not practical at all)

Thats about it. I will only ever drive a German car or an American car. I just do not like the Lexus or Infinity brand.

2001-2003 E39 M5 (keeping E30 325iX)

2007 Chevy Tahoe Strong Hybrid (5.7L VORTEC V8 with Displacement on Demand and two 30kW electric motors)

The xi E60 sealed the deal for me.

Really? The C class is a much smaller car. Now if you say the E55, then I am right there with ya. What a beast that car is.

I only considered the 5 series. Was going to get a 545 before news of the 550 broke so I decided to delay my purchase a few months. What luck.

- 2006 Lexus GS300 (all new design)
- 2006 Infiniti M35
- 2006 325i
- 2005 530i (clearance price)

End up with 2006 525i.

[/quote]Well, we have a car with plenty of room--an X5 4.4i. I liked the straight-line performance of the E55, but liked the 545i much better overall. I decided to get the 545i and add some mods--to get it up to the C55 straight-line level. My purchase was made to have a third car; a non-sports car for me. I have my Z06 for when I really want to go fast in either straight or curved lines.

I read all kinds of articles on the following cars but never test drove any of them except a 530i. Somehow, I was impressed with the car's design and all its innovative features.

Lexus GS300
Infinit MSeries
Audi A6
MB E320
BMW 530i

It was hardly a week or two before my 530i car got produced when I heard of the AWD 530xi option with more powerful engine. I went for it blindly without even test driving after cancelling the 530i order. I am happy that i made the decision. Someday, I will test drive the above cars and feel good in retrospect that I made a great decision
