what is this cable for?

My Ride: 2007 Sapphire Black Metallic 525i. Beige Dakota Leather, Premium package, bluetooth, BMW Assist, Xenon adaptive lights, Sirius radio
found this cable when looking at the left socket to replace the bulb. Any idea what it is? Any idea how to replace the bulb that illuminates around the socket?

I'm pretty sure that's a connector for the phone cradle...
