Hang on - I have just come from an A4 and it was just the same issues. No centre armrest, no rear electric windows (well I got them by getting the SE). I guess I'm not comparing like with like, but still could have doubled the base price of an A4 with extras.

I am VERY happy with my 2 week old E60 although I did not go overboard on the extras, I was still expecting to feel let down by the interior quality and my initial feelings are very good.

The only solution to the "option expenses" and rip off pricing is to go Japanese - they throw in all the extra kit for a reason!!

Perhaps this is a discussion for another thread. Perhaps the question I am going to ask has been answered a million times over so I apologize.

Why do they not offer the same options in the US as they do in the EU? It seems there is a Chinese menu list of options in Europe while the US has to choose from the most expensive.

Any logic or clarity on this?

This is the exact reason I never go for it. But I don't want it even if it's free. The more moving parts the more noise you get. And at least in the E39 it would weaken the body.

Just my 2 cents.

Exactlly. I dont want the fold down seats even if it was free...

I think the biggest rip-offs are dealer markups and buying above MSRP

Extended Warranty. I purchased it right before I hit 50K miles and I can't get my dealer to cover software upgrades. What a ripoff!!!

Good one. Dealer markups is the worst of all. I think it should be illegal.

I agree that ? 605 for the advanced Air-Con that comes standard in the A6 & E-Class (i.e. gives controlled air to the front seat passengers independantly) is definately a riff-off. The Std. auto air-con is frankly rubbish.
