We bought the car back in 2010 as a CPO with 14,000 miles (fully loaded with all options) had 130,000 absolute trouble free highway miles, not once it went in for any unscheduled visit. Wife loved the car and is heart broken


So the question is, what to look for to replace her car.


Ideally, I would rather buy a low mileage '07 530i/xi or '08-'09 528 i/xi. I remember not looking for a 535i for problems with the turbo's or something like that.


Here's what we will be looking for:


White/Silver/Grey exterior color
Pref under 40K miles
A/T with at-least NAV/sports seats, keyless and cold weather package
No accidents/paint work


We are in KY and ready to buy.

Glad your wife wasn't hurt. Obviously, that's the most important thing.
Finding a replacement for the E60 is not easy. The newer F series cars all handle and steer poorly in my opinion, 3,4 5,6, and 7. BMW is, I'm afraid, no longer a manufacturer of drivers cars. They are now just another luxury car manufacturer, with below average reliability compared to some other luxury makes.

I think the models you have identified (newer E60 cars with fairly low mileage) are good choices. However, finding cars 7 or more years old with such low mileage might be a very tough search.

I've been casually looking for a replacement for my 2008 528i (just in case I find myself in a situation like yours). The best driving car I've found is the Cadillac CTS (not the V model) with magnetic suspension. If I had to buy a replacement car this week, that's where I'd be looking.

Glad to hear your wife is okay. Don't write-off the 535 because of the turbo wastegate ratte problem - there is an 8 year 82k mile warranty.

Any interest in a wagon? I have a 2007 530xiT with the Sprot, Premium, and Cold weather packages. It has the factory 18" wheels and the Auburn interior. Although the mileage is not as low as you're looking for, it has 72K mi. I bought it 2-½ years ago with only 30Kmi from the original owner in Albuquerque so the vehicle has lived rust free it's whole life. It is garage kept but it is my daily driver (hence the mileage). When I brought it to Ga, I had a local BMW indy shop go through it and replaced the trans, x-drive, front and rear diff fluids. It also has relatively new Michelin Pilot AS3 tires.
