Default 2010 528i Gear Shifter dead

Car starts fine. No transmission error codes. But gear selector has no LED light illuminated and moving it does nothing.

Just before this happened I had a TPM sensor failure notice followed by an SOS system failure. I found those came from water in the spare tire wheel well. I cleaned that out and TPM is now working but SOS still fails.

I have found nothing to suggest there is any electronics related to transmission that may have got wet, but could be wrong. The gear selector switch may have gone bad, but a bit of coincidence that it happened at the same time as the other water related issues.

Anyone had a dead gear selector?

Its common in the pre lci for the wires below gear shifter to become brittle and split apart. I re did mine about 2 years ago with no problems, you need to pop up gear shift and check your wire connections.
Its a tight area but doable. Dealer only wants to replace the whole unit! GL

Default Gear shift lever dead

Checking that next. Discovered there was a blown fuse for the shift light, when that was replaced, I get "possible gear shift lever malfunction" warning. I think it is correct.
