You probably think I'm nuts for asking that question! Here's the deal...

The shape of a Diet Coke bottle (plastic 20 ounce) plays havoc with the cupholders. There is a little spring-loaded flap that hinges up or down 90 degrees when you insert something in the cupholders. If you put something cylindrical into the holder, the flap either stays down or stays up, depending on the size of the object. A Diet Coke bottle is tapered so what happens is that the flap is pushed down when you insert the bottle but then the flap will often times snap back up where the bottle is narrower than the bottom.

Very often, depending on how the bottle is leaning, the flap will stay down for a long time and then, without any notice, it will snap up (probably if the bottle moves a little due to normal g-forces). When this thing snaps up, it sounds exactly like a stone hitting the windshield!

I'm betting there are others who have seen this happen -- anyone?
That's so weird. This happens to me when my wife puts that damn diet coke bottle (which doesn't really fit in the cupholder to begin with) into the holder. Hahaha! Now I know! Thanks Rudy.

i've been experiencing weird noises too...but this is more of what seems to be in the cd player. occasionally after unlocking my car, and opening the car door i hear noises coming from the cd player or around that area. the sound is like a very fast clicking noise which repeats over and over agian. so my first thought was the cd vibrating. so i eject the cd. however the noise continues. but after maybe 1-2mins this noise stops. and this ONLY happens after unlocking car, and opening door. any ideas of whats making that noise?

Do you have NAV? I get the same thing - NAV wakes up, I think the NAV DVD is spinning and loading into the car's computer.

Well, believe it or not, the same thing happens with infant milk bottles, so, perhaps...

I had similiar experience with a buzzing noise coming from the dash after the car was driven for a while. It was driving me nuts, took it to my local dealer and demonstrated the problem to them as it was only happening between 1000 to 1800 RPM. It turned out to be a loose trim that they fixed.

Have been getting this clicking/popping noise which can best be described as a stone hitting the windscreen coming from behind the dashboard. Has anyone experienced this?
I had the same problem and it drove me nuts. Below is the fix that was described on my work order:

Removed COWL ASSY Including Microfilters and wiper Arms. Installed felt tape under lip of front Cowl ASSY.

Yes, you read correctly, they installed felt tape on my $65k car. They even have a part number for the tape (61-13-8-357-831) Description - Tape FR 15).

Now, the real question is how long the tape will last?

Hope this help!

i now have a rattle somewhere in the steering column. it developed only 1-2 months ago so maybe it has to do with the cold weather. to solve it, i just blip the throttle and let my exhaust drone out the rattle
