My Ride: 2007 E60 535d M Sport
I had exactly the same problem with mine - as long as the car is under 3 years old the standard BMW warranty will cover trim items such as that piece for the steering wheel. Mine was replaced free of charge, as was the leather handbrake gaitor which had a big 1cm wide hole in it
