I did the mod today. I went with the "OEM" route. Big difference in the steering. I have the BMS PowerBox on mine. That and the SPORT throttle mapping made the car really jerky when starting off. I had to change it's (PowerBox) throttle mapping to none but kept the performance enhancement.

Hey once you do this mod post your thoughts. I am interested in how it works with the 535i's. Looking at the DS vs Sport the only thing I would gain would be faster shifts since my tune already changed my throttle mapping and redline for the vehicle. Keep us posted.

Here's a pic of the cable I made using BMW connectors on both ends. I labeled the wires so that i won't get confused later on. :

Here's a pic of how I routed it under the center console trim and under and to the side of the ashtray. The ashtray is removed in this pic.

The cable then comes up and behind from where the DTC module is located and then pulled back forward to the wiring bundle.:

Wiring now joined into the bundle and then connect to the DTC module.:

Closing it up...Ashtray with my spec dock back in:

I got the cable today, so I'll do it tonight or tomorrow on my off day. I'll be sure to post pictures for the LCI folks, and how the car reacts.

1st post. Second to last pic is the pin-out for pre-LCI. Ground is shared with the FDC-GND.

It's actually pretty easy to make your own cables.

I just used some butt\splice connectors to extend the wires that came with the bushing contacts and used some 1/4 inch wire sleeving\protector and heat shrink.
