Hmmm...still kind of confused on this. So all it does is make the steering heavier and throttle more responsive?

In the original post it states:

"shift times for gear changes are reduced by the SMG control unit. In addition, in automatic mode the SMG only shifts into the next gear up at higher engine speeds."

I wasn't aware of E60 with SMG (Apart from the M Perhaps)

Would this 'work' with the ZF automatic that most of us actually have in our cars?

I can confirm "SPORT" does the following on a manual shift E60 with Servotronic (VO SA216, btw all E60s have it):

1. steering heavier
2. throttle more responsive

supposedly, automatics shift higher

Can we get a part number list going for the button, bezel, wiring, connectors, etc? anyone have any info on this?

FYI, people were skeptical in the beginning here, but good work as the OP seems to have something here. Thanks!

Edit : Found the following
51167059899 Shift Bezel , Sport Button
61316922799, Auto Sport Switch

51167059899 Shift Bezel , Sport Button <- this is for left hand drive cars
51167059900 Shift Bezel Sport Button <- this is for right hand drive cars
This is the bezel for pre-LCI cars.

Do you have to take the whole console apart, or can you get that section loose seperately?

Very curious! Any updates? Is there a more detailed DIY on this? I am not sure what is meant by shorting the circuit for a second. How is this accomplished?

I think it depends ... I don't have Nav and the whole center console must come apart together ... w/ Nav you maybe able to pop the lower portion under the CD/DVD drive.

I can confirmed of the steering got heavier ... haven't feel the different on shifting 'cuz I retrofitted steering wheel paddle shifter so I always drive in manual mode and I'm using Sprint Booster so can't test the throttle difference ... as for shorting pin #8 & #10 for a short time same as touch them together really quick ... I use a simple tiny plastic push button that has a stick-on tape on the back.
