Obviously a more controversial subject than one would think at first blush. I think robq is correct when speaking of water near boiling because of evaporative effects.

JoePoole, Is your garage pitched (sloped) towards the drain? Sounds Like great idea. Steven

Yes, the drain is located in the center of the floor, and is pitched from each edge toward the center. It does look a little weird, when people see your car setting in the garage, with a decided tilt toward the center. Also, when you pull your car in out of the rain/snow, it drains naturally. The drain drains into a "french drain system" with an overflow that runs into my yard. Fortunately, my yard has a slope away from my house in all directions. If you ever have the opportunity to build your own house, it is a great idea and should not cost that much.

the problem with garage drains in the northeast is that the ground freezes and the drain has no where to go.

So, we're left with either real dirty cars or carwashes. For you folks in FLA or the warm South West an e60 doesn't look so great covered in road salt.

My SA told me not to use touchless car washes as the pressure from the water jets would ruin my PDC sensors. Is this a fact or fantasy?
