I'd like to see if anyone has had experience with the Voice Recognition module for the Navigation Pro option in the US.

There are apparantly two different VR systems - one for the phone and one that goes with the Navigation system. According to the manual the Navigation system VR module does much more than interact with the Navigation system. That said, it is very vague on what it actually does.

Does anyone have any experience with this that they can share? How does it work and what can you control with it? Is it worth the $$'s to get the Navigation system to get the VR module?

Thanks!

P.S. I posted this on Roadfly as well, but the general tenor on that board is pretty critical. This board seems more supportive so I thought I'd see what people had to say over here.

I think you can download the owner's manual on this site (home page) and read all about it. I think it can control the audio unit, climate control, etc.

Anyway, I think all this works in the US (but not Europe).

I did order the full Nav on my car. I think it's well worth it. We'll see when it's delivered though (April 2004).

I have downloaded the owners manual it is very sketchy on what it does. It goes into detail about the navigation system.

Let me know if you can figure out anything different in the owners manual.

I think I read that you can say with a voice command, "Options" and "Help" or something like that and it shows you all the options. Maybe someone will post that list some time. I'd also like to know more about what all it can do.

I would think (not positve) that the voice commands can probably control most iDrive comonents. Again, I'm not sure yet.

Are there 2 versions of the Navigation System? What is this Full Nav or Pro Nav you guys are talking about?

On the option list it only shows one navigation option.

In the U.S., there's only one (Professional Nav or "Full" Nav).

Europe had the "Business Nav" available when the car was released (I think that's the name) that had less capabilities (smaller screen and No Maps).

The professional Nav just became available in all countries.

Again though, the US only has the full version with the larger screen.
