Speak in a normal tone, DO NOT YELL AT IT, you will hurt it's felling and it won't listen to you.

Speak at normal speed, NOTOOFAST, NOOT TOOOO SLOOOOWWW.

Close your windows, make sure passangers aren't talking at the same time.

You speaking to it in English?

If all else fails, take it to a dealer

Hi

My understanding is that the extended voice control options are only available with the Professional Sat Nav System only. I have a Sept 2004 E60 525 SE D. All the voice controls relate to the use of the phone only. Hope this helps. By the way when I ask the BMW service people about the extended voice options I just get blanks looks and no answers.

i got the business navigation...and i can confirm what "kjhkent" said...extended voice control is ONLY avaliable on PRO Navi...sorry..
but if you have bluetooth, which you should...then the car should respond to telephone comands..
if the lady says anything like "service not available" or "Function not available"..then your phone is not connected properly..connect the phone to the car and then try saying things like "Dial Number", "Dial Name", or "Save Name"...

Agreed, extended voice came along with Pro Navi, if you have business Navi then you don't have extended voice.

Being English, when ever I speak she always gives a cute little sigh and says 'It's positively wonderful to hear someone who can actually speak properly for change, how can I be of service?'

One of the most funny conversations you can have with her is trying to choose "Track 13" and she answers "Track 30 not possible CD has 15 Tracks!". I find the teens difficult to recognise.

Ask for ID if you want to be sure you're on the safe side.

Voice recognition on our e60s can be frustrating. Everytime I try to show off the feature to friends, it goes and does something different and my friends laugh at me. Very temperamental, it is.

i have noticed that on the pro navi...does what it wants most the time no matter what you say...but suprisingly with the few commands for the telephone on my business navi..i found it much much better...it does react the same way sometimes doing what it wants. but those are only on a few ocasions, overall much better than the navi pro, it does what i say atleast 75% of the time...

This always happens to me. Infact my friends now tease me CD1 CD2 because I kept screaming at the car those commands and it refused to listen! Now if I want to show off I make sure the car is parked while I'm saying the commands. The road noise makes a difference.
