Voice Command & Navi
#2
Anytime you don't know what your voice options are, you can just say "options" and the system will tell you what's possible.
In this case, the process works like this after you're in the new destination menu.
You say, "State".
The nav system says, "Please spell the state name" and the screen displays "Please speak..." (or something similar).
You spell the name letter by letter (e.g., California).
The nav system says, "Do you mean California?" (garbled but intelligible)
You say "Yes" (or no if it gets the state wrong).
Then the nav system will prompt you for street name, house number (e.g., 1140 is 'eleven forty' or 'one thousand one hundred forty') and then ask you if you'd like to start the routing process. For me, it's a little cumbersome to do it this way but it does work. I think it would be cool if the system allowed you to do this for yellow pages listings as well, although it doesn't.

By the time I entered all the information through voice command, I already arrived at the destination.

If most of your trips are in one state, is there a way to set that state as a default in the navigation system so you can avoid spelling out the state every time?

I only use this feature when I am changing my mind/my destination while driving, so that I can leave my hands on the steering wheel and concentrate on the street. If you can spell fast and you can speak clear and loud, this is easy to use.

So in short if you are staying within one state you only need to enter it once, and after that you only change the city, street, and house number for any new destinations while the state remains the same.
