Hi Guys, when I go to this website:

http://www.bmw-z1.com/VIN/VINdecode-e.cgi

and punch in my E60's VIN, I get lots of info about the car, eg.

Vehicle code NA72
Series E60
Model 530i
Body type saloon
Catalog model ECE
Production date 2004 / 03
Engine M54
Transmission Unknown
Steering Right
Catalyzer YES

Anyone knows what NA72 and ECE mean?

Our dealer here don't know crap and I'm trying to figure out which bluetooth retrofit kit is needed

thanks,

eggz

I'm not sure those codes are important to finding out what you need for BT retro.

From what I've seen, BMW usually uses production date to determine these things (if a change was made mid-year).

Can't your dealer call BMW for support?

NA72 is the BMW AG model designation for your right hand drive 530i. For example, the 530i in the U.S. has the BMW AG model designation of NA73. The difference, I believe, is due to the fact that you have a right hand drive and the U.S. model is a left hand drive.

ECE is the indication for the country or area of the world where your car is delivered. When I use the VIN decoder for all of my BMWs the catalog designation comes up "USA". Hopefully, someone on the board can tell us precisely what "ECE" indicates.

My $0.02. YMMV

Don't rely too heavily on these results. There were a few errors when I did mine.

Says I have a 530d. I have a 530i
Says production date was 1/2004 actually it was 5/2004
Says manual trans. I have Steptronic

The decoders are notoriously incorrect. :'(
