When you are talking about burning slow, there's got to be smoke. Krozi seems to be excited easy. Burning at the rate capable of the burner will produce the same quality since its 0 and 1 to a CD player. Now, the hardware decoding the CD may be different for different players.
I noticed that when I burn my CD at max speed, the bmw player will skip in songs toward the end. But when I burn the CD at a slower rate, it does not do that. I use CDRW disc.
Of all people, I listen to music with the intent to hear individual instruments and its accuracy in regards to reproduction. In the accuracy reproduction category, it cannot be differentiated because the player is in the car connected to the speaker. As for clarity, it's the same at 8x or 1x.

+1, 1x is the way to go
I'm gonna try burning one at 0.5x speed. Maybe it'll sound like the band are in the car with me. I better start off with songs from a duo so I've got room for them in the back seats.

the cd i burned at 8x finished in 50 seconds, and it didnt work in my car cd player!
If the disc was filled up to the brim, then 1x needs 74 minutes, so 8x would need one eighth of that time.

Just to clarify do you mean for Analog or Digital (MP3) recording to CDs?
And, if you mean digital does speed refer to the speed of the CD Drive or the sampling rate?
