I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that if you let the dealership get away with leaving your seat the way those pictures show....it's YOUR fault. I don't know you or your personality, but you bet your a$$...if I that was MY seat, it WOULD get fixed. There is absolutely NO leg for them to stand on concerning not fixing it...what could they possibly say? If they say "yeah, we think it looks bad too, but that's how it's made". Then you say "show me a new one that looks this way".
i brought it out there, and the tucked the leather back under the metal bracket. the salesman actually did it in the parking lot. he said, thats the way it is. on the ride home it popped back out. i am gonna get it out there soon. they are 40 miles away, so its not like i can swing by on my way home

Your salesman is full of crap. I would call the Service Manager. If that doesn't work, escalate to the General Manager. If that still doesn't work, contact BMW.

There's the start of your problem right there. It's YOUR car...don't be afraid to tell that sales guy "that's a bullsh!t answer...I want to see the Service Manager". See the Service Manager, explain the situation, get him to write a service ticket specific to this problem. I really wouldn't sweat this issue...they will fix it...you just have to force the issue sometimes.

I just had the same problem 550i. Was fine for over 2 years. Had my car in for the rear brake replacement and they fixed this as well. Didn't seem like a big deal but looking at the pictures the design looks pretty shabby.
