My car is finally due an "inspection" after 72k, anyone know what they're inspecting? Fron brakes due in 20k and rears in 30k, not bad eh? And who says maintenance on these things is a bear!

Was this a dumb question, or does nobody know the answer?

Inspections are very well detailled in your owner's manual. Regarding the brakes...I would'nt trust the sensors it's very approximative and not really trustworthy .

My inspection light went off earlier this month in the iDrive screen, but that's only because we have to get our cars inspected every year. It's the law. I just need to take it to a local mechanic, pay them $30 and then reset the iDrive warning. It's nothing to do with the car itself, in terms of it malfunctioning. It's just the state inspection that needs to be renewed.

Ah I understand. Nothing actually gets inspected.

Fair enough.

I guess have to get into the book then. As for the brakes, for the sensor to be 20k off would almost seem a defect more than an accepted tolerence.
