I am thinking about taking my 530i in and getting a 650i cabrio, but I am scared.
The issues are:
- theft security
- cabrio safety
- noise
- resale value
- insurance
- winter
- too tacky
- gas mileage
The 650i cabrio has 8.500 km, individual (onix blue + cream leather), with many options, (DD, AS, HUD, L7, Pro Navi)... First registered in 04.2006. Looks like brand new.
What do you think? Pro and cons?

Tacky... don't think so!
Do you mind if I ask how much it is?

1) No poblem with security. I leave the top down, windows up, and lock it. Motion detectors work great if someone tries to reach inside. I know because I reached in once. That said, if they want, they will take it, hard or soft top.
2) I don't understand? I have had mine up to 145mph, and it was still pulling. It felt like I was going 80. That was with the top up. Took a 260 mile trip with top down. It took 3 hours 15 minutes, but never went over 120 mph.
3) If you are next to a bus, it is not great, otherwise, not really an issue.
4) I am trading mine in next month, see order below. Dealer's offer $7.5k less than I paid 20 months ago. I don't feel that is bad, but it is a depreciating asset, not an investment.
5) I pay $1,700 at AAA.
6) I live in Vegas, so the top was down, windows up and heat on, that worked most days.
7) I have never had so many people tell me how nice looking my car was before, but if you think so - don't buy it.
8) I drive pretty fast and really don't give a sh*t about the cost of gas. Again, if you do, don't buy it.
Bottom line, best car I have ever owned - by far. And, this is my 5th BMW. The 6th will be here in a few weeks. Obviously, these are just my opinions. If you like it, buy it and unless it is a lemon, I can't see how you would ever regret it. While I am looking forward to my order, it has a LOT to live up to.
Sorry, I have a Carbon Black 550i w/Sport Package and a lot of extra's coming on Hudson Leader.

Thanks a lot.
About safety, I was wondering about crash protection, especially in lateral collisions.
Can you use the Bluetooth phone while convertible top is up and doing let's say 100 mph? Will the wind noise be a problem when driving on motorway with the soft top closed and all windows up?

I had a 645 before my M5 and, have to say, that I enjoyed the 645 cab much more. As far as bluetooth, the background noise is much more pronounced with the cab, but, that being said, BMW's bluetooth leaves a lot to be desired. Everone knows when I am using bluetooth, I almost always use my headset. My Audi Q7 has a much better sounding bluetooth interface. You will not be able to use the bluetooth when driving 100 mph, at least in my experience.
