You are right under certain conditions like burglary, robbery, and aggravated robbery. However, for theft and malicious mischief, such as this, the use of deadly force is out except at night.

Nevertheless, those Texans with licenses for concealed carry are advised during training NOT to use deadly force in all of the above situations.

Northernmonkey,

Chipsaway did two repairs on my car and I can't say they were very good at all. It's all down to the professionalism of the person you actually end up with but I wasn't happy at all with a repair they did to my rear bumper. To blend in the repair the heave to feather out the edges of the paint. From a distance min looked ok but up close it was pretty poor with rub down scratch marks on the surface of the paint/laquer and you could see the feathered edges. Hope they do a better job for you.

ISUK, yes it seems companies like ChipsAway are a bit of pot luck and down to the individual that runs the franchise. which one did you use ?

i am hoping my repair will be a doddle for them as the chips are tiny and very superficial, but they are there and i want them gone

Northernmonkey,

I used the one in Wellingborough. If I was doing a car up for a quick sale I'd use them again. If I was keeping the car I'd have to say that I'd give them a bodyswerve. I hate having entire panels resprayed as you run the same pot luck depending upon the professionalism of the person doing the work.

Lots of bodyshops are truly awful and I had a horrendous experience with my dealers bodyshop last year when they did a job on my X5. I went back and rejected the work no less than 4 times before they finally got the message and sorted the job out properly. I'm glad I have bought a few cars off them as I feel that if I hadn't they would have happily ignored my dissatisfaction. It must have cost them a small fortune in the end. Just symptomatic of people no longer regarding themselves as craftsmen and not taking a pride in the work they turn out.

Thanks for the clarification..

I guess he could use the salt-pellet bullets that the farmers use to drive off cow-tippers......

ISUK,
feel same way....had similar bad experience on my E46 coupe and that went into a BMW approved shop, so much for "approved" took them 2 goes to get paint right and a further 2 to actually fit the bonnet correctly ie square

given the damage on the E60 is so light i guess i'll just let chipsaway have a go and prey. hopefully it will be sorted. I have heard good things about the branch i am using so lets hope

will let you know on friday how it goes.....
