My Ride: 2005 530i JETBLACK/BLACK DAKOTA, COLD WEATHER PKG, PREMIUM PKG, ADAPTIVE XENON HEADLIGHTS, AUTO TRANSMISSION WITH 6 SPEED STEPTRONIC, BLUETOOTH SETUP,SAT SETUP AND WIFE AS CO-PILOT
here in long beach cali...the 3er is as common as a honda civic or toyota camry...i was in your situation a couple of months ago...since we just bought the x 5......the e60 was intended to be our family car...but now its only me in the car....was thinking to downsize...but again i just seeee way to many on the road...an i like the luxury/prestige feeli get with me e60...ericd

but in HK & China alot of people use 7 or 8 seater.
can not wait for next year when the new X5 comes 7 seats

Don't use the back seat much, but the trunk is full of junk 
I think it all boils down to as most suggest sporty/luxury. I think the E60 stands in between the two so is a no brainer for me.
