I have a 545 Sport also and can't think of a reason why you would switch to a 335 except for better handling, especially given you will lose on depreciation.

I agree with vern, the 335 interior is small and uninspiring.

Be strong and fight the urge!
I agree so why not 6er?

Saves quite a bit of money on hotel rooms when the girlfriend is around. Justifies the cost of an E60 over a 335i.

I'm sure this will come off as "totally snobbish" but I would stick with the 5 over a 3.

Yes, I agree, the 335 is amazing, gorgeous, fast etc but it's still a 3. Which is an entry level car and the 5, well it's a sexy, sporty gorgeous car whose looks speaks louder than words but that's just my opinion.

Oh and I sometimes use the backseat or trunk but not every day.

I think the new 335i coupe is a spectacular looking car (the best in the BMW stable right now), and by all accounts its performance is extraordinary. If I were looking to get a new vehicle today I would have a tough choice to make between the 335i coupe and the 550i.

I think it boils down to your driving preferences. Which comes first for you, Sport or Luxury?

The 335i coupe, hands down, will trump the 545i in the fun-to-drive factor: handling, cornering, responsiveness, and even acceleration. The 335 will be a blast to toss around.

The 545 / 550, on the other hand, is nearly the peer to the 335 in those fun-to-drive factors - but not quite - yet has much more luxury, especially the luxury of the 8 cylinder engine. The power and grace of the 5er is worth more to me than the sportiness of the coupe. And I would have a hard time giving up things such as HUD and comfort seats.

Good luck, it's a fun choice to consider.
I like to have both Sport or Luxury so I will stick to a 5er is I what a spoet car I wait for the new M3

I think you got things wrong here 3 is not the entry level
If you are a true BM fan U forgot about the 1. This is a entry level and anyway, there is no such thing as a entry level car, it all boil down to what size car tou like to drive.
Some of my frends light big car some like small cars, its not snbbish at all.
I can get a 7 to $1000us I dont think is snbbish at all.

Ok... in the US the 3 is entry level, again, it's just my opinion. I am a true Bimmer fan, I was just stating a preference for the 5.

Do it - if you don't need the space and love driving - just do it! Get the aluminum trim interior however! Love that and wish it was availble on the 5-series here (it is avail on the M5)

No 6 series. I can't get myself in a 2 door unless it's a Porsche TT or some exotic car, but that's completely out of my league.

Every since I got my driver's license, I never wanted a 2 door car. I guess because during college, I hated having to move the seat to let friends jump in the back of Mustang GT. Eventhough I don't use the backseat to haul friends around anymore, I guess the stigma sticks around.

Anyways, I like 4 doors over 2 doors except for the cars previously stated above. The 5er styling is much better than the 3er (though the 3er sedan is still good looking), and the ride is good for the 5er, though not as "zippy" as I want it to be.

I'm going to take some of the advices to go test drive. I'm afraid I might jump the gun for the ride, but still regret later because the 5er styling is in my heart. Then again, the 3er sedan might not be "that" impressive.

Again, I rarely use the backseat or trunk.
