Hi Stoney, seems that you have problems with the E clutch. Take a look here,

Hope that helps.

Stoney
I have had my e60 only a few months and was quite surprised when taking my car on a extended run to see family that as I attempted to pass another vehicle my car bucked a bit and went into failsafe mode. As many of us have stated shutting the car down briefly and restarting returned the car to normal operation. When I scanned the car with my Foxwell scanner I came up with code 4F85/ not present EGS: ratio monitoring, clutch E. When I researched this code it referred to a bad bushing for the shaft for E clutch. I also found several articles relating to valve body, solenoids, low on fluid etc etc. I have been turning wrenches since I was seventeen and as cars became more and more complicated I have found in my 43 years as guy working with my hands not all codes reflect the problem accurately. After much research and even a discussion with a terrific transmission guy down the street from me I decided to do the mechatronic kit (I used Pentosin fluid) and replace the valve body with a rebuilt one through RevMax. I was able to reset the transmission adaptions on the car and today for the first time really take it out for a hard drive. I am pleased to report that none of the original symptoms are present in the car. The upshifts were smooth as well as the downshifts even the second gear to first as you stop was no longer feeling funky. I am very relieved. I subbed out the work to my transmission guy as I at 61 yrs old did not want to lay under my car in the winter doing this service. If I had had access to a lift I would have been all over it. Be advised all symptoms are different, however I thought I would relay my story to you.
