Three options:

1. If you are very close to fitting consider grinding the hex portion of the socket shorter

2. Change the plug to a standard hex head and use a crows foot wrench with your torque wrench

3. What the last poster said - tighten it by feel until it is snug.

Found another fluid to add to the list:

http://www.superformance.co.uk/parts/AGIP0550_PDS.pdf

If you scroll down to final page you can see where it says zf ml-11 specific. My indy in S. Jersey has a high end shop.. He uses this in his ferraris and maseratis and told me to research the specs because its compatible for our cars. What's even better he charges $8 a quart. Based on the "best" fluid as another stated was redline. I'm assuming this is because it's the one with the highest viscosity index, which is the measure of the stability of a fluid given a certain temperature. I've been researching fluid a bit... Some say oem fluid is a lttle thinner and is more fuel efficient, others like redline to be a little thicker but better viscosity... I know it's simple to just pay a couple extra dollars and get lifeguard, or save and get mercon SP. I however want to use the better of the fluids , taking cost out of the equation. And based on the measurements (thanks to the lad that had the side by side comparisons) the shell and lifeguard just seem to be ok. Also those of us that haven't changed yet and follow zf's 100k maintenance I'm leaning towards the fluid with the greater viscosity
