This is just idiocy.

A vette will get to 120 faster then a 525i...so how are you saying the 525 will beat it. Seriously...just stop youre giving me a headache with your senseless so called "facts" about racing. People who race to 145 on public highways are not only endangering themseleves but other people on the road. If you think you "won" because the other car said "fu** it Im not gonna crash and die because this idiot 525i speed demon wants to break the law and kill himself...YOU WON BUDDY! GREAT JOB CONGRATS ON THE BIG BALLS!

ANYWAY, Im waiting on the other guy to call me. My payments are 622 with extended maintenance and warranty and one guy said 760 is what I would be paying and the guy who is supposed to call me back siad he can get a little under that. Theres no way Im paying that much over what I do now...for an 04 when I have an 06....meanwhile the v8s are not selling much because everyone is afraid gas prices will go up again. If I keep my car...then thats fine. I still love it I just hate the engine and obviously wont be able to do anything about it (because engine mods on a 525 are honestly pointless to me besides muffler and scoops/filter). Oh well. Next time I am getting something over 300hp no matter what.

BRO, it doesnt f*cking matter how fast you are going. Racing is not about who has the most balls to go the fastest. Its whoever gets to a certain POINT/speed FIRST! Not who opts out first unless the cars are similar in power.

Bleh bleh blahbby blah I am SMACKING MYSELF.

"If people are not willing/able/capable of going past 145, it does not matter if they drive a 545, M5, Gallardo, or even a spaceship. I will pass them if they challenge me and will humble them with their bigger engines"

I am done smacking myself. I am in sheer amazement at this magical 525i that can beat spaceships and Gallardos.

But that doesn't even have anything to do with what the car is. It's all about you're willing to go at a higher speed than anyone that challenges you just so that you can eventually "win". Using that argument, you could go to a 1/4 mile drag strip and get thoroughly trounced by a huge margin to the 1/4 mile marker, and then you eventually overtake the other guy at the 1/2 mile marker and consider that winning (even though your opponent already backed off because the race was over). If someone wants to challenge you, and they wipe the floor with you up to 100mph and then they back off because they think it's all over, the fact that you come racing by at 145mph doesn't really mean anything.

It isn't proving anything to just keep accelerating and accelerating until you eventually pass your "opponent" who's already finished the challenge and is busy programming their navigation unit as you fly by.

I can't imagine (and haven't witnessed here) anyone putting down a 525. Any E60 is a great car. We all make our choices of which engine we want for our own reasons.

I HAVE a 525i. I love my e60 but Im just saying it is NOT going to beat a Gallardo!

Maybe it has the Time-Warp package

Silver, are you hearing yourself talking?

"we didnt hit our limiters but we got up to 100 or so. so unless you have some sort of super 525xi that is different from the rest i dont believe a word you say."

100 or so? By your own admission I could have beaten you in my E46. Come on, man, please try to understand the point I am trying to make. Here are the facts: Equal drivers with equal size balls: The 545 will absolutely spank the 525/530 hands out. It will smoke it 0-60, it will smoke it 60-145, it will smoke it just sitting in the parking lot. It will absolutely shred the 525 to pieces. It will make the 525 its bitch and pass it around to its 545 brothers and even to the Hyundai Genesis friends just to spite. Agreed!

You may think there is no skill hitting the gas on the highway and reach your limiter, but until you have done it, you will never really know. Besides skills you also need some craziness (balls) and the understanding that you could land in jail, if lucky, and 6 feet under, if they ever find all the pieces of you body.

What I find it disturbing is that I hear many of our esteemed forum members ALWAYS putting down the 525 as a wimpy, little car, yet, by their own admission they will not go near 130 because they "value" their lives. Then, if they value their lives so much, they shouldn't be surprised if they get smoked by a 525 or 325 driver if he/she does not "value" their lives so much.

I love reading this forum and I share the love for BMW with all of you, but everytime people talk smack about my little engine that could, I take that as a personal attack. If people are not willing/able/capable of going past 145, it does not matter if they drive a 545, M5, Gallardo, or even a spaceship. I will pass them if they challenge me and will humble them with their bigger engines. If they have the balls to go higher than 145, then they will beat me in the 525 and that's that, after all, we're all limited by the tools we use.

I have never even said that the 525 is quicker 60-145. That's crazy! All I said was that if somebody challenges the 525 and then limit themselves to 130MPH, the 525 will eventually catch up, pass them, and pull away at the full 145MPH, may take a minute, may take 5 minutes, but logic dictates that an object moving at 145, will overtake an object moving at 130. What is so hard to believe? Do the math.

I thought this was a discussion forum. Why accuse people of lying if you don't even know them? For now take my word for it, then if we ever meet and I don't deliver, you can always come back to the forum and expose me as a liar.

Again, why carry a bazooka if you are not willing to use it when a 6 shooter that you are willing to use would accomplish more?

Hit me up if you're in MA. Always a pleasure meeting fellow enthusiasts. Coffee on me, of course, but not in the E60; you know, those damn cup holders.
I think we were misunderstanding each other but it's all cleared up now. I thought you meant your car would be quicker to XXX speed but you are saying that most people won't go past 130 or so.

Also, I never put down whether it's a M5 or 525. They are both E60s. Some people want the extra power and others want decent fuel economy with a decent handling car. Different strokes for different folks.

Oh and about those damn cup holders...we wouldn't want any liquids in the car once we hit the twisties

I love these forums, we can argue all we want but in the end everyone is happy because we all own E60s.

LMAO

There was a thread going around regarding top speeds reached. My carbon-abusing, remapped 545 has done 154 before hitting the limiter (limiter!!! Grrrr...). As soon as I have a free moment, the limiter is being removed so I can prevent the post-race fly-by

622 a month? Wow. Did you buy it new? Is that a 5 year loan? Did you put any money down?

When i bought my car it was 35k and I put 10k down, i pay 487 a month on a 5 year loan at 4% interest.

No money down what so ever. 5 year loan, 5%interest I think and it was around 32k maybe a little more WITH extended warranty, maintenance and taxes/fees in June 08'.
