My wife was driving to work yesterday and check engine light came on. 2009 550i with 18500 miles. She pulled over and restarted the car several times with no help. Check control messages screen had no warning messages stored. I came to pick her up and grab my laptop with D-CAN adapter/INPA. I didn't have much time but there were no active errors at the time. Since I had some previously stored errors I decided to clear them all. Well the check engine light went away and hasn't got back. I hope it never will but it's relly suspicious. The Engine Oil level is at the lowest setting and it's due to change in 2000 miles. Perhaps that could have triggered the engine check light?

Discovered the problem. It was common failure dmtl pump 2A17. After I initially reset the errors the problem has not surfaced for several months. I reset it again and it came back in a month then the occurrence rate went up. I ran dmtl pump test with Dis multiple times and it passed everytime. I bought new pump and had it swapped last weekend. I took a few pictures to share with the forum members. I will have them uploaded with quick DIY guide.
