m5 coversion buld new paint job lots of pics and questions
UPDATE: 3/20/12

UPDATE: 3/13/13
had some time to work on the car today. finished the lci tail light with bruces 6.1 install and fitted the vis csl trunk better thanks to our vender/member Trinity for giving me some tips to line it up. the car should done after the weekend just needs a good buff and it will head straight to the muffler shop.

UPDATE: 3/5/12
roof, side mirrors, window trims are painted gloss black and the rest of the car is alpine white.

this is a oem m5 rear bumper it looks kinda off because its not bolted down and resting on the stock tips but fitment is perfect of the lower trunk part to the bumper when the stock exhaust is off

so far everything is going as planed. gap lines is from a brand new oem vis csl style trunk... for a carbon trunk that is almost $1k would think fitment would be at lease line up better but that just my eyes as I notice every little flaw. I'm petty sure no one will notice unless bring it up.
let me know what you guys think.
thanks!
2005 m5 sapphire black.
before the tear down.

going with a color change to alpine white with a m5 conversion including fenders and more goodies lci tails, hood, trunk,

oem m5 front and rear

here is my only question for you guys with m5 fenders. i'm having a little problem fitting it near the window/piller. looks like i have a little gap is this normal? passenger side looks closer but the driver side looks more spread apart.
driver side

passenger side
anyone with the oem m5 fenders here care to chime in and help me out? did i order the right ones? are pre lci or lci m5 fenders the same?
anyways what do you guys think?

looks like a great project man, and lots of good work put in to it
honestly though, If I had an M5 in black, I would keep it black and would not repaint it different color
not sure about the fenders though and measurement on them

Just curious,,, what is your car ...a 525,530,545,550 ? Cuz I can see it certainly not an M5 if you needed to buy a entire m5 body kit..
Anyways, your car look good as my car do ! When yours was black it looked almost exactly as my car now with those concave wheels lool

I am curious, if you were going for a full respray and getting all the M5 parts why not select an M5 exclusive color? I would have picked Interlagos Blue or Indianapolis Red, or even Silverstone Silver if I was going to do a respray anyway. I have always preferred M cars in M exclusive colors.
Looks like an exciting project.
Im doing the same along with engine swap
Didnt go with the V10 as it would be horribly expensive here in Norway but instead went with the V8 from the 550i.

Damn that's a lot of work to paint it a different color. I would have just got it wrapped so I could change it back if I wanted. But that's just me though.
They are really strict on the condition and the specs of the car when you convert it.
