First of all, if you are hurting, definitely see a doctor. Insurance companies will not give you a cent for your injuries without some documentation .... and since they will no doubt try to screw you on the property damage - it levels the playing field a bit Secondly - are you going under your own insurance or the driver who hit you's insurance? You may want to see what each of them says as far as whether the car is totaled. IMHO if it were not a $60k BMW it would be totaled for sure - but if they can repair it for less than its market value - they will.

If you decide to go against the other driver's insurance - and the insurance company will not total the car - - you should demand additional compensation for the loss in value of the car for having been in the accident. In other words, they need to repair the car - but even afterwards - the car is not worth what it was prior to the accident when you go to trade or sell it because it was in a serious accident that can be discovered via Carfax. Might get you some additional $$$$$.

Good luck!!!

When I was younger I would have been pissed that the car was banged up, now that I am older and a baby on the way, it has shifted to "everyone is fine, cars can be rebuilt or replaced" It always sounded like a cliche until I started being responsible for more than just myself. When my wife got there and was balling her eyes out, over me, it gets you.

I guess I'm just growing up.

Wow, the car sure did hold-up well to such a violent crash!!! Glad you're ok mate. On a positive note, take your wheels off before they scrap the car and get you another one.

So this guy driving a chevy 4x4 and not paying attention to stopped traffic, slams into the back of me and pushes me into a lady in front of me. Below are the pics of the damage, tow truck guys it totaled, I'm hoping so, he hit me really hard. I am OK, little sore, may go to hospital tomorrow. My wife was very upset when she came to pick me up, when she saw the damage and couldn't find me, her thoughts went racing. We went back to the scene of the accident and his skid marks were almost 70 feet long.

My wife(who is 5 months pregnant) wondered what would have happened if we would have had the baby in the back seat. That is when it hit me. Perpsectives sure are changing with a baby on the way.
One of our other members had his e60 repaired after a major collision. They wouldn't total his car - check out the picture or jmsod's posts:

everytime one of these accident threads come up, its just so sad about what happens to the car... its hurts to see the car liike that, but knowing that each member in each accident walked away, some wihtout even a single scratch, always makes me feel safe driving the E60. But like most people have said, sorry about the car, but very very glad you're alright. You should get yourself checked out just to be sure. Also I really hope it'll be considred totalled, I mean, the repair process, and the wait, and driving an accident BMW just wouldn't feel right anymore. Hope everything works out for you.

It all depends on the insurance company. I'd be really pissed if they didn't total it in that case and the OP's.

Damn, that's horrible. I just cringe at the thought of it happening to me.

I remember that and that is why I am concerned for a repair. i am just hoping with front and rear damage it will be more. I am going through my insurance who will in turn get it through his once the police report is out, if I don't like what their decision is, I will work with my attorney to get a satisfactory result.

To the guys that are younger and thought of the car first, I was the same way when I was your age. I guess since I am using the phrase "when I was your age" I am starting to show my age, only 33. But I look back and I didn't have any other responsibilities so I would most definitely be pissed about the car.

I am going to the Dr. tomorrow, my back is sore, but more importantly, my wife and I are going on Wednesday to find out if the baby is going to be a boy or girl.

Glad to hear you're Ok. Get yourself checked-out ASAP -- some of these aches and pains don't show up till weeks and months from now -- long term. Car's replaceable, but if it's not totaled, it sounds like you already have options on what to do. Best of luck

thank god u r okay, for me u r in the middle but talk with ur innsurance company if u can fix it and u take brand new one and the insurance sell this one , coz you would feel that something is wrong even if the car is perfectlly done right psychologically speaking
