My Ride: 2011 550i AW - every option
Greetings fellow enthusiasts.
I got up at 5am today to run some errands. Just as I'm pulling into my sub, the DSC error message comes up. Says to drive carefully or whatever.
Yellow triagle sign with error message. Turned the car off, waited a bit, and turned it back on shortly and the issue pesists.
Ive searched the threads and found this SZL sensor error. Is that it?
Can someone provide me with some information about this error?
Anyone have an idea what I can expect to pay for this type of situation? My warranty is done
(just crossed the 100k marker).
I love this car to death, but I probably get at least 3 issues per quarter.
Looking for input please.
Thanks guys.
z.

That error message in my car was a fault with the steering angle sensor. Dealer had my car for a whole day including full s/w recoding. I'm under warranty but you're probably looking at a large expense for this necessary but out of warranty repair.

how much do u think?
IMO It's not a DIY ... these complicated cars can be a bear to own after warranty runs out.
Trust me - I've run two previous 7 series to 100K miles + and when repair costs look like they could exceed replacement costs off to the shredder they went! My most reliable BMW was my '86 e28 524TD ... went to almost 300K miles before I donated it! But those were simpler times.

Sensor failure dear za3879,
Modern cars are full of these sensors that measures about everything.
Sensors are made by a various number of manufactures, from US to China
and all between.
The car manufacturer is the one who's responsible, but actually the dealer is
who you need to fight with.
For short, make your dealer change the defected part - for free plus a loaner.
