Ok guys, my car has pro nav along with premium sound pkgs. The car is a US spec. Not only do I have the pleasure only 2 years of warranty coverage here in Germany but they tell me the RDS will only work in the US (saying it is only tuned for US radio stations) and that TMC is not available for my car since it is US spec and that is a German option so no interface with my Nav! My 92 960 Volvo RDS works here why not an 05 BMW? Any help from your guys over here can help. I will tell you the long story of Sat radio some time after they hang themselves with this one too.

 

I think you'll find that since your car is US spec, US spec software is loaded on it. TMC isn't part of the US spec software so that's probably why it won't work over there. The Volvo probably used the same radio for any country (wasn't reliant on software) which is most likely why it works there now.

 

I think you will also find that RDS will NOT work in the US if you have NAV. Funnily my US spec car did have RDS and it worked in Germany, Italy and France. It never has had RDS since I got it in the US. I always assumed this was a result of a software upgrade. I don't think your lack of RDS has anything to to with the European radio frequency.

 

Yea, their explenation is an excuse. The problem is RDS in not compatible with Nav.
