I need some advise on Tire pressure for a BMW 528i under hot weather like Arizona. what should be the PSI, I called BMW service advisor and he recommended me 40PSI, I was shocked to hear that.

And can you please recommend my any Air compressor for home.

 

The recommended tire pressure is shown on a sticker on the driver door post. 40psi does seem high even for rfts. Rapid and extreme temperature swings should be taken into consideration as tire inflation pressures can change - this is a good article from TireRack : http://www.tirerack....e.jsp?techid=73

I keep a compact air compressor in my garage - bought it from Sears about 10 years ago for about $100. It's been very handy to use - moreso than those little 12v jobs though I do keep one of them in the trunk of my Roadster.

 

As mentioned above, check the bottom of the driver side "B" pillar for BMW's recommended cold tire pressure for the tire size that was supplied with the car. Additional information is on page 221 in the OM.

BMW recommends 32 psi front and 38 psi rear for the '08 528i's stock 225/50R17 tires. This is based on 'cold' outside ambient temperature (i.e., earlier morning after being parked outside overnight, not driven, and not exposed to direct sunlight), a full load, and speeds of <100 mph.

Depending on actual tires and loads, you may need to experiment a bit. For example, BMW's cold tire pressure specs for my '06 E61 are 30 F / 38 R. So far, I like 33 F / 38 R for light-to-medium loads at legal speed limits.

I have a Black and Decker air pump (120 Vac; without gauge) I bought many years ago at Sears.
