Thought I would add some updates to this thread.
I haven't manage to fix my CAN (p1720) issue but so far I am able to to stop the throttle body from clicking or making any noise.
What i did was unplugged the SGM box (also known as ZGM) from underneath the glove box. left it unplugged for a few moments and so far it has cleared the throttle issue.
Right now I am trying to figure out how to fix the voltage issue on my CAN-H (blue red wire to the DME box) it is producing .09 voltage where as it has to be 2.6volts.
Just need to figure out how to trace this back all the way to the source that is causing it to lose voltage.

Wow, Totalfix... I read your 7 page pose, and I get chills. I have this exact issue for 6 months, and like you... at least up to the point of your last post... i have done literally nothing to even change the issue. Other than unplugging things that would make the flapping stop, which would obviously not allow the car to run. I have changed out so many things... IVM, relays all over. All fuses good, and I had the same relentless advice to change my battery, which I did and made no difference. Everything in the car powers up, starter "kicks" but that is all... but it wouldnt start anyway because the brain is going crazy because something is still off. I am just dying to know what you did to stop posting... did you fix it? Or, did you bail and dump the car over a cliff?
Hope you are still around...
Thanks.

Just to update the folks on here, I purchased a new used DME with the same product code and had it sent to Europe to get it reprogram to match my cas, abs, and kombi system. This was probably the simplest solution to get it running again. If you've tried everything i'd suggest trying this. I purchased a used DME for around $500 and reprogrammed it for around $400. I believe https://www.rpmmotorsport.net/ can do the same.

Are you still driving it? I have about 85k miles on mine. If this kind of stuff keeps happening, I just cant afford the time nor money. It would be cheaper overall for me to torch the thing in my driveway.
You are the ONLY one I have heard of over these last 6 months to have this exact issue.

I don't think you'll have this same issue again if you fix it, however.... you're eventually going to have other ish to do deal with, not related to this of course.

btw the DME at the time when I purchased it was rare. It's probably a common item on ebay now, maybe 100-200 easily. And programming may have gotten cheaper so I don't think it would be too much of an investment to try and get it working again.

Its funny, but really not, I was working on trying to fix an issue with VVT and going into limp mode, when this happened. I cant even get one problem fixed before the next appears. I just cant handle it. I need to dump this thing. I have a day job.
