My Ride: 2007 530xi - Black Sapphire Metalic, Black Leather
Premium package, Navigaation, Cold weather package, Satellite Radio, Rear fold-down seats.
My First BMW, and the greatest car I've ever driven.
So, I should start by saying that I admittedly know very little about car engines. So, this may be a stupid question, but what can I do?
I got my '07 530xi about 3 weeks ago. It only has about 750 miles. When I picked it up, the dealer told me that it may burn a lot of oil initially. That seemed fine to me. Now, for the past few days, I've notice a really awful (acidic-like) smell in the car when I start up and turn the A/C on. I've not put any food of any kind (groceries or otherwise) in the car yet, so I know I didn't spill something that is now stinking. I was wondering if it was oil burning (though the oil level indicator implies that my level is full).
I spoke to my service advisor today, and he said that it may be something underneath the car that is burning, and that it should go away in a month or two. If I have to deal with the stink for 2 months, I guess it won't kill me, but it seems odd to have to pinch my nostrils in a new car that I spent so much money on.
Has anyone else had this problem, or does anyone have any ideas about what it might be?

Discussed heavily in other threads, it should go away in a couple of weeks or so. If I remember correctly it comes out of the A/C vents, don't remember the reason but apparently something to do with new cars and the time it's been seating in the ship crossing the ocean and not being used for a while. Run a search and you should find some more stuff about it.
