About a month ago I had my 15000 mile service done at JMK. I am wondering what is supposed to be changed and/or checked at this service interval?

I ask this because of a few things based on my experience. The SA stated that "the key FOB" will tell me. Which when he plugged it in, did tell him a few things. It stated that an oil change was due, although this had just been done a few months prior. So that was all that was performed in my mind and so stated on the work order.

The thing that concerns me is that I have a service attention noted in my iDrive. This has been there for months. Do they not check the diagnostics or iDrive statements at all?

I also received a low coolant warning this week. Do they not check the fluids?

Again just wondering if I have to pay attention to all this stuff or I thought I was paying for BMW to take better car of the maintenance than myself.

Between the oil changes and these items I am beginning to think the 'free maintenance' program is doing more harm to my car than good.

Never knew there is a 15000 mile service. All my computer knows aout is oil service and Inspection 1, 2. Fluids usually are checked and added (as needed) during oil services.

MY SA on my recent annual (I guess it's the same as the 15K service) service told me the key fob stores all the various codes (low washer, service attention, etc.), and displays them all when a customer brings his/her car in for service. I had the impression that they never look at the I-Drive, but rely on the fob for the information.

I would understand that all information were stored in the FOB, but it seems that it is not. The service notification on the iDrive is dated July. I had the service in August. It is stating a communication error is the fault.

Same thing happened to me. I took it in for service a few months back and I dont they check anything except what the iDrive tells them. "OIL CHANGE" and thats it. a month later I get a warning saying power steering failure. I took it to the nearest dealer and all they did was add more power steering fluid. So obviously when I went in for service they dont check anything else.
