Not sure.. although, I do know that it wasn't permitted within the EU until January 1 2004 - hence it not being active on those cars produced before that date.
We're having it activated tomorrow along with a software upgrade.. aswell as a change in some of the key memory settings.

It's funny. I keep reading about various people going back and forth to the dealer to upgrade the software, etc. My dealer won't upgrade the software unless their is a specific problem with the car.
I begged him to upgrade when the Airbag fault light was on (because of unplugging the airbag warning light when I was wiring my radar detector). They said they won't do it for the whole car. Just when they solve individual problems, and even then they'll most likely only program that module.
The version that everyone keeps talking about 11.1 or 12.1..isn't really available over here in the states. We have a different number (I mentioned this on a different thread)
Oh well,

BFD was standard in the USA right from the start. So your car will definitely have the them. During normal braking only half of the red section of your lights are lit up, but when BFD switches on the whole red section of the lights are lit up.

Did you get the BFD activated? Any ideas how they activated if they did? What build date was your E60?
Thanks

June/July 2003 AFAIK - maybe the oldest E60 on this forum?
Yes, they activated BFD - but I have no clue as to how they performed the activation. They also updated the software of the entire car.

Thanks.
My dealer has no excuses next time I take my car in to get the BFD activated. They should have contacted BMW UK by now to get answers and I know it does work as speuk has got it done in the UK as well.
