I'm a new owner of a 05 530i (6 speed 110.5k on dash) I've had it about 4 months now. I really like the car. I'm coming from a 2nd gen GS300. The car runs great until 4k rpm and then it has a slight stumble/hesitation. There are no codes. This happens in gears 1-3, I haven't tried it in the other 3 gears because by then, I'm flying. The car idles smooth and pulls hard and smooth when mashing on it until 4k. The car has new plugs, OEM coils, and new OEM MAF. What do you guys think could be the issue. I don't usually drive the car till 4k, but every now and then, I frolick with it. Also, active steering, I get that error about once a week and narrowed it down to when I turning left. I will get the error, and then the steering wheel will be jacked up (off center). It never has happened turning to the right. I have noticed, that it's only with slight left turns, if I u turn, it doesn't happen. Thanks for you guys help. I really like the car, so I want to get it sorted.

 

VANOS seals. Rebuild kit is around $100. Welcome to the forum.
