Default Stock Dyno of a 2007 550i

I just wanted to get a baseline before I mod the car. Looks ok to me. The cold run the first one was of course the best, looks like after it warmed up the stock programming took some timing advance off the bottom end. I am hoping for 350HP at the wheels with bolt ons and spending less then 5k.

Is this dyno graph pretty normal for a pre LCI 550i?

I think they are 362 HP and 361 FTLbs. And that is from the manufacturer. Manufacturers always give you HP and Torque at the engine not at the wheels.

At least any car I have owned or worked on was always flywheel HP if your going by manufacturer specifications.

So why is his numbers so low on the Dyno? Where is the lost power at?

Power steering, Differential, Transmission, alerternator, pulleys, A/C, etc. etc.

Everything in the car takes away power from the engine. Even the electronics, they require power which makes the alternator work which requires more horsepower.

Figured I would start with

Dinan Intake
RPI Exhaust
ESS Tune
RPI Intake Scoops

That wil probably be 3500-4000 so I will get those and see where the dyno says I am.

That is to much to spend on like an extra 10HP. To get your biggest HP gain you have to get a supercharger, it cost like 8k but you will get more horses. The motor is almost topped out from the factory.

Unfortunately, the E60 550i is not the most tuner friendly car, as it comes stock close to being maxed out. Can you add power... Yes, but it's going to cost you a significant chunk of change! Your stock numbers are quite respectable! Here's a link to someone who spent nearly $6K on headers alone for what equated to a 17rwhp gain: https://5series.net/forums/e60-parts...esults-114891/ and FWIW, your stock numbers are in line with his post-tune numbers. Some intake mods, like the AFE will actually cost you HP on the E60 550i, whereas others might net you minimal results. Exhaust mods will lighten the car and give great sound, but won't give you significant HP gains either. If you're truly looking for a tuner, go with either the E60 535i or save up for the F10 550i! The 535i is capable of more than 100hp/100ft.lbs of torque for under $1K.
