Still no word on whether my car will be totalled or repaired, but....

was told the same thing, so i switched to ING Insurance. ironically soon after my car was totaled. but ING took really good care of me, and the cheque i ended up getting was much more than what i expected.

So you threatened to switch insurance companies and then they (your current insurance agency) totalled it and you still switched? I was considering playing that card. We have auto insurance (2 cars) and home owners insurance through AllState and we have never filed a claim.

not exactly, but i'm glad to hear you never had to file a claim. i actually had an excellent driving record. even though the incident wasn't my fault, i still had to pay a deductable and they took one star away from my record. so i guess i have a near perfect record now....

Trust me, the adjuster handling the claim wont care whether you threaten to switch carriers or not. Their hands are tied, and one policyholder out of 10 million doesnt phase them in the least. It just makes you look petty.

Stick with the numbers and data, its your best argument.
