Hello all,

Quick update. I still have my issue. However the wobble fades away when at constant speed, with cruise control for example. It appears back if I accelerate.
I also noticed that the steering wheel can wobble when braking. It appears sometimes (it's not all the time)

There are quite a few components in the rear suspension that can cause flex under acceleration, including the differential mount bushings, control arm bushings and ball joints, and maybe even CV axles.

Wobble under braking - if cyclic and not just one "thump" when you hit the brakes - is almost always from contaminated rotors, normally from material transfer from the brake pads after a really hard panic stop, and then leaving the brakes engaged (often while you try to remember how to breathe again). lt's often diagnosed as a "warped rotor" but hardly ever is (those things are just far too beefy to really warp without serious violence being involved).

Hello all
I just wanted to keep you all up do date, even though I haven't find a solutionm yet

Today I drove quite a lot on the highway, what a tiring thing to do.

I thought the problem only occurred at 80-100 kph but at higher speeds it also vibrates quite a lot, I just can't see it on the steering wheel as it is faster..
It also fades in/out randomly

I noticed I have 2 rows of 6 10g balancing weights on the front wheels.. Is that normal?
The front are 4 years old and the rear... 10 years old (written 1018 and 0312 on them)

Anyway, I'm good for a tire change

That many weights mean they couldn't get it balanced. Something is wrong with it. Have them remove all the weights then balance. I forget the number on the machine but when it shows that number they should not try to balance it and let you know something is wrong with your rim

+1

I have two wheels that could not balance, and they could have stacked more weights on it, but that will just hide the problem. They told me to get my wheels fixed instead.

hey, thanks for the replies. I'll try to go to a different shop then.

donpb, what was the issue with your wheels?

I'm trying to search for road force balancer but i'm not sure we have those here.
Thanks for the help,

I don't know if I'm the only anal one that, prior to a new tire or balance appointment, removes all the weights and then cleans the wheel, including the inside of the wheel where the stick-on-weights go. My wife thinks I'm crazy. I don't want a weight falling off after having been stuck to brake dust.

I think you are but that is definitely a good idea. I've had a shop scrap weights off and had them pay to get the wheels refurbished. I think I'll start doing that. I keep my wheels clean. Just cleaned one of my car wheels yesterday.

Hello all
Update. Just came back from another tire shop. Gave them the car for a balancing Job for the 4 wheels. I followed your advice and cleaned the inside and removed the old weights. Scraped rust on the hub. Brand new rims ahah.

They also rotated the front and rear tires. They put less weights than the previous shop

Nothing changed ahaha, still the exact same wobble at the same speeds. Crazy
Weirdly enough, while driving to the shop with the clean, unbalanced wheels, the shaking was the same.. A bit more pronounced
