My Ride: Nov 2003 530D SE Auto in Mystic Blue with Grey Dakota Leather, Business Nav. Star Spoke 124 18"s, Blootooth Preperation.
Modifications so far: M5 spoiler, M5 trunk finisher, hometronic rear view mirror, Maple Wood interior trim.
Mods to come: M5 style quad exhaust and M5 rear bumper, Dechroming, black ebay grilles, tints, upgrade to factory amp, by the time I've done these, I'm sure I'll have thought of some more....
Couple of questions about steering wheels
are all e60 steering wheels leather? Mine seems very plasticky (my previous car, golf R32 had the most beautiful steering wheel I've ever used, the leather really felt like proper leather and it was really thick and perfectly small sized and had thumb indents, this is what its like http://www.peterbeers.net/vw_roadtrip/GTI/...ering_wheel.htm )
Moving "up" to a well specced 5er, I was a bit disappointed with the steering wheel, although I love the car otherwise. Is it possible that my wheel isn't leather? it has stitching on it, but still seems like plastic to me.
Do all "sport" steering wheels have round airbags, or is there a "sport" steering wheel which has the hexagon shape airbag? I'd consider buying the sport wheel if it was made of a better leather material and if i could keep the existing airbag. Alternatively, anyone aware of a quality aftermarket wheel that retains the existing hexagon shaped airbag?
I've seen a picture of an ac schnitzer wheel for sale in the classifieds here, but seemed extremely expensive
I'm trying to work out what option's I have for replacing the wheel, am I right with this list of what bmw offer? (please correct me if this is wrong)
early fitment standard (hexagon shaped airbag)
early fitment sport (round airbag)
early fitment ///M (round airbag)
late fitment standard heated (hexagon shaped airbag)
late fitment sport heated (round shaped airbag)
