Thumbs up

Gentlemen

Have any of you been able to get MP3 capability by upgrading the software in a 2004, 5 or 6 series?

Thanks in Advance

Scott

Mine is October 2004 and does play MP3.

Software update a good year ago sorted it. When the software is updated, they still need to enable the MP3 feature additionally, with some sort of a side menu.

Good luck

Thanks Olli

After reading all the searched posts, I have come tot he conclusion that it is a software vs hardware issue. My car is at BMW right now having a new TCU installed since I have a March 04 645 and my bluetooth was not working. The only byatch is trying to get BMW to update it

Thanks

Yes, I put my Nov 2003 530d into service for them to do a software update specifically to get mp3s working.

as already stated, it is true that they also had to do some kind of "activation" to activate mp3s.

works fine now, although try different brands of blank media to see which brand your drive is happiest reading. i found it didnt like certain brands of blank media. this isnt an uncommon phenomenon in the world of media and players!

Has been working on my 04 545i, production month 05/2004, since CIP upgrade in 05. Agree with AlVal regarding being able to read certain CD information better than others. Recently got upgraded to I think CIP version 21.010 and now have increased RDS ability with FM stations.
