I would say that's still pretty early, starters on my other cars didn't go until I went past 175k miles, or 8+ years

Ok check it out. i have a friend that works at Alexander bmw in huntington park he will hook it up and even do it at your house. try finding a after market starter and just have him do it. He does all my work on my 545i and all my friends bmws

I haven't replaced a starter on any of my cars in more than 20 years ... and I drove most of them < 100K miles. I think you're giving up too early on getting BMWNA into the discussion.

That said, the BMW Mechanic work at home sounds like a possibility though I'm cautious about moonlighters, especially if they come up with deals that "seem too good to be true".

He is a real bmw tech. He is just a nice guy and will help u save money on towing. But when the car needs to be programmed or something he can only do at the dealer he takes it to the dealer. Not to good to be true

Hey buddy...shit happens...your starter going is just one of them.......

I'm certain it's the brushes in your starter...If you could get someone to take it out...you could just take it to an electrical guy who should be able to replace it. I did, it cost me the equivalent of 30US in my country(Trinidad).....I'm sure it will cost more in the US.
