In my old E46 318i saloon, I had it fitted with BMW Sport suspension, it is firmer but still gives a comfortable feel. However, I drove the coupe M sport version which was fitted with M sport suspension. I personally think the setting is too hard. (Although is great for cornering) but you really need to use your brakes when you approach speed humps, otherwise.... mind your head if you're not in a convertable.

Yes I've owned both. I had the sports suspension option (not Dynamic Drive anti lean) on my 530d SE and now have M sport suspension on my 535d sport.
I wouldn't say there was much difference at all in terms of handling. My first car had Dunlop Run Flats and Active Steering. My current car has Continental Non RF and no Active Steering. I prefer the handling characteristics of my current car.
To be honest and I know I'll get shot for quoting this but both cars roll way too much round bends for my liking and are not a patch on my old E39. Only my HO.
