Default SOS Button gone AWOL

I was checking various Car Settings through iDrive and under BMW Service Settings nothing was listed, whereas normally at least 4 Options were found. Then I went over to the iMenu and tried to activate the BMW Assist item, but had no luck doing that. It was suggested to contact Assist customer service. They confirmed that my subscription was up-to-date and asked me to use the overhead SOS button to test the system. Again, no connection. The car was outside parked in my driveway. They could not help me any further and suggested to contact a BMW Center.

No fault codes are stored.

Very disappointed that a potentially life saving feature just disappears without warning. Never mind the 200 bucks for a yearly subscription.
